Tales for the Sisterhood A Collection of Short Stories eBook Diana Heath Reviews
Let me start off by saying wow this book really blew my mind. I was raised by three beautiful woman who molded me into a man, growing up I have seen the issues Catherine describes in this book. This book is really a good read and instead of just talking about the issues woman face everyday it also brings out humor. Not a lot of authors can do that, some authors just drag out issues and the book becomes a bit boring. This book opened my eyes to a lot especially a woman's point of view on certain things. My favorite was "The Dinner Date" communication is always key. So hurry up and buy it, you wont regret it.
Duke of Quails
Tales for the Sisterhood is a collection of short, witty and entertaining stories. Each story features a female protagonist both young and old, which makes the book appeal to women of all ages. No matter where a woman may be, or how rich she is, how in love she is or how…married she is; her story can be told as part of the tales of the sisterhood.
I was surprised and encouraged by the depth to which Diana writes about serious issues including sex-trafficking, weight, identity and love. Her style is direct and to the point, but always offers a resolution built from strong female characters. Stories like ‘The Dinner Date’ are simply entertaining and enjoyable but surprise you with a twist; whereas, ‘Sisters’ is dark and unforgiving, in truth about the reality of experience for some women in our world. It is in this way that Diana crosses social and developmental boundaries, joining women as sisters, at the hips by voicing their stories.
Diana also crosses through time by going back to the 1920s in ‘Just in the Nick of Time’, a story which is easy to immerse yourself in through it’s strong description of the bush as well as its interesting plot and an intense but heartfelt ending.
Though some male characters are seen as the antagonist, it is not this book’s purpose to disqualify a man’s role, but rather to employ women fully in their role as an independent individual in society, and to reach a level of equality indebted to all humanoids. Each story is told from the perspective of a woman, or several women to enlighten the reader of the myriad of journeys and experiences women accomplish.
Don’t let this collection of stories fool you in to thinking you are reading simple tales of womenfolk; there are heavy themes faced front-on by the author that tie this book together, but it is the author’s clear voice and easy-going style, that allows these stories to reach a wide audience with full impact.
Tales of the Sisterhood is charming yet deadly; like a cobra in a bassinet that has been left on your book shelf, let it entertain you and keep you on your toes. Like a good sister would.
